Scott R. Welvaert lives in Minnesota with his wife, two daughters and a dog named Sparrow. His poetry has been previously published in the Rockhurst Review, Chiron Review, Rockford Review, Cold Mountain Review, Jabberwock Review, Rosebud, Birmingham Poetry Review, Valaparaiso Poetry Review and numerous other magazines and journals across the country. His first book of poetry, Pacific, won the 2007 Sol Books Poetry Award and is available through Skywater Publishing.
In the last decade, he has published numerous middle grade and young adult fiction titles. His three latest books from Tartan House: Grotesque, The 13th Floor and The Alabaster Ring explore a variety of genres, including horror, mystery and romance. Prior to Tartan House, he published two young adult fantasy adventure novels through Stone Arch Books: The Curse of the Wendigo and The Mosquito King. He holds an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Minnesota State University, Mankato.
